The Sail combination is definitely one of my favorites for the passing game. I don't know of a single game that I have ever coached in where this play was not ran in some capacity.

The angle route is a great compliment. Especially against overly aggressive/undisciplined LB's/DC's. We also use this adjustment in our version of the air raid Y cross.

Great breakdown.

Using the Angle tag like this is similar to the way the traditional West Coast uses "22 Texas" to sequence off the bread-and-butter "(3)22 (Scat) Y Stick". Same look for the defense for the first part, and if the Stick is successful early on, you might get an overreaction by the undercoverage and a wide-open lane for the back to run after catch. Not sure how the Y-Sail + Angle would work on the goal line, but we used to run 22 Texas a lot on the +10 yard line for a TD.
