No, No, No….this is wrong and I wish everyone would stop saying this is the real issue. There is ZERO evidence that any current players were “ratting out” the program. First the Freep lists 10 current or former players that were interviewed, of which 5 or 6 corroborated the story. At least 2 of the 6 are generally believed to be Stokes and Hawthorne, who were asked about all the hard work they are putting in compared to high school, and either not know the rules, or understanding that a lot of the work was voluntary, described their schedule. They were proud of this…not “ratting out” anyone. These were most likely the guys that went to RR and said, “Coach, what did we do wrong” The other 4 guys could easily be former players like Clemons, or mislead during interviews the same way. Since they are just “anonymous” we don’t know.

Chris, where is anyone saying “yeah well probation and one lost scholarship wouldn’t be a big deal”?

I love your blog, but I’ve been reading Michigan blogs all day and have seen no one have this sentiment. In fact, to the Michigan community, it WOULD be a big deal.

But it’s all moot because Rodriguez — unlike the Detroit Free Press — knows what a countable hour is. We’re not going to get dinged. The bad PR kind of sucks though.

I love all of this talk. Rich Rod was a bad hire. The A.D. screwed up. The record last year was an indication of the coach not the players. Let’s see how many detractors are on board with Richie Rich when Blue loses 8 games this year. Let’s see what is said when Notre Dame beats Blue by 4 touchdowns. Then when Ohio State wins by 48 points I bet Rodriguez has few if and fans left on his side. Mark my words….this is the last season for Richie boy and the final chapter in the A.D.’s Michigan career.

The timing of this is so suspicious.

These “anonymous” wimps are just a bunch of crybabies. If it was easy to win a national championship, everybody would do it. But it’s not! Players need to butch up or bail out.
